An experimental house we are self-building on Lake Huron, with simple forms nestled into the woods on the edge of a rare alvar landscape. Clad in a screen of Eastern White Cedar finished with black pine tar, daylight filters down over a central stair to interiors of clear finished spruce, pine and fir. Views are framed to the surrounding forest and the lake beyond. The project incorporates a tertiary sanitary system for minimal site impact, incorporates advanced framing techniques and is designed to energy efficient Passive House principles.
