International urban design competition with Marty Lillepold and Greg Demaiter. Selected for Jury Recognition.
Public gathering on the site is reawakened through simple urban gestures which offer the city as both stage and actor in daily life, an urban vision which values a rebalancing between automobile and pedestrian. Planting is based on the horticultural concept of the urban forest, an ecosystem based ideology which values the diversity and unique heritage of place. The clay and silt of the Stratford Till Plain are expressed in the use of local red clay brick paving, while slabs of Canadian limestone demarcate a civic plinth extending from the steps of City Hall.
