Organized around the rubble stone foundation of the original hilltop Quaker farmhouse to form a sheltered courtyard, the house captures south sunlight and long views down a tree lined entry. Portions of loadbearing masonry wall remnants are incorporated into the new interior, and a reclaimed brick outdoor fireplace marks the site of the original hearth. Thermally efficient structural insulated panels are combined with orientation and overhangs for passive solar gain in the winter months. Polished concrete floors, wood cladding.
