An access right of way bisects the hillside site, where existing ponds formed by damming a small stream are surrounded by Carolinian forest and remnants of pasture and orchards. The house is sited on the open southwest edge of the smallest pond, creating a secluded water garden for quiet reflection.

A masonry hearth sits at the angle of the L shaped plan, and with the corner sitting room roots the lighter pavilions into the hillside. A private bedroom suite opens to the protected pond, lit by morning sun and adjacent a small waterfall. Living, dining and kitchen are combined, with glazed walls opening both to the pond and to distant views over the Niagara Escarpment.
